Mr. Diaz-Candia is an attorney and arbitrator. He is a founding partner at WDA Legal Advice (formerly Squire Sanders & Dempsey and before that Steel, Hector & Davis). Mr. Diaz-Candia represents lenders and borrowers in asset-backed financing. He has worked on corporate and private finance transactions in New York assisting clients in the areas of international investment and transactional work, in both corporate and private finance.

He is the President of the Arbitration Committee of the Venezuelan AmCham; and has served as arbitrator in numerous cases, and a member in the Interamerican Commercial Arbitration Commission (IACAC). He has published an arbitration book in Spain and Venezuela, as well as several legal articles in Venezuelan and international law journals on arbitration, Administrative and Constitutional law.

In 2004 Mr. Diaz-Candia was listed by Latin Lawyer magazine in the top five of the 25 most prominent Venezuelan lawyers under 40 years of age. He has consistently appeared well-ranked in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers. He also appears in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in Venezuela, Chambers Latin America, IFLR1000 and Latin Lawyer 250.

Mr. Diaz-Candia is a member of the board of directors and former president of the Venezuelan Fulbright Association. Mr. Diaz-Candia is licensed to practice law in New York and Venezuela.
